HME’s PRO850 Named Sound Product of the Year by Entertainment Design Magazine

San Diego, CA January 21 2004--HME's PRO850 Wireless Intercom System was recently named one of the Sound Products of the Year by Entertainment Design magazine. The PRO850 was one of five sound products chosen from thousands of products introduced in 2003 for this prestigious award.

Introduced last Fall, the PRO850 allows production crew members to easily communicate with their manager and each other via wireless, lightweight beltpacs --- without the hassle of dragging cables around. The PRO850 is used mainly by sound professionals in theatres and television broadcast companies; but its application also spans to the military, aerospace, stadium/concert events, churches, touring companies, schools, and other industrial companies.

This coveted Sound Products of the Year Award has been around for nearly a decade, when Entertainment Design magazine was formerly known as Theatre Crafts International. “Our goal is always to pick the best new audio products designed to make lives easier for theatre sound designers,” said David Johnson, Editor of Entertainment Design magazine.

The five Sound Products of the Year were selected by a panel of theatrical and entertainment industry experts from around the world. “The more we use it, the more we like it,” commented the judges. “[Party line communication between beltpacs is a godsend.” The PRO850 and other winners will be featured in the February 2004 issue of Entertainment Design and will be formally honored at the annual EDDY Awards, to be held in New York City in June 2004. Other recipients include the Aviom Personal Monitor Mixing System, the Meyer Sound UPJ-1P Compact VariO Loudspeaker, the Trantec S6000 Wireless System, and the Yamaha DM1000 Digital Mixing Console.

“HME is incredibly honored to receive this award,” said J. Michael Hughes, General Manager of HME’s Pro Audio Division. “We’re extremely pleased that the PRO850 has impressed even the toughest critics in the pro-audio industry.”
