Vancouver, B.C. (July 31, 2001) – Vancouver-based dCinema Entertainment Group and the Vancouver International Film Festival have partnered to launch the inaugural PitchOFF West 2001 as this year’s featured Trade Forum event. The exciting televised event will be held at the Sheraton Wall Centre in Vancouver, B.C. on Friday, September 28, 2001 between 3:30 PM and 6:30 PM.

During the inaugural PitchOFF West, six filmmakers will have the unique opportunity to pitch their film or television concept to a prestigious panel comprised of top entertainment decision makers with the ability to jump-start careers.

Confirmed PitchOFF Panelists include:

·          Pancho Mansfield, Senior Vice President, Original Programming, Showtime Networks

Along with the opportunity to pitch their story to an influential panel of producers, film and television executives, the six “pitchers” will receive extensive media coverage. Event highlights will be broadcast on provincial and national television, along with other media exposure to include editorials in popular entertainment magazines, trade publications, and webcasts.

PitchOFF was founded by dCinema Entertainment founders Larry Sugar and Daniel Frankel with the intent of helping aspiring western Canadian filmmakers make the needed connection with the buyers in order to promote the indigenous film and television industry.
